The New Hall Netball Rally

On Wednesday 5th March the Form 6 netball team played in the annual New Hall Netball Rally.

We arrived at 11.55 and rested till our match at 12.30.  This was against a team called Cathedral.  We started off a bit nervous but our high passes and excellent defence gained us four goals.  However, Cathedral managed to sneak a goal just before half-time, leaving the score at 4-1.  After a team talk we came back to win the game 8-1.

Then we had another rest and snack.  Our next game was against Alleyns Court.  They were quick to get the ball, but their passes were quickly intercepted and down our end of the court. We dominated the majority of the match and were pleased with the final score 8-0.

After that we had a long break that lasted about an hour and a half.  Then we had to compete against the Ursuline.  They started off well but by half-time we were leading 2-1.  In the second half we pushed the score to 4-1 . They rallied.  The final score was 6-4 to us. Grace and I were unfortunately injured and had to go to the ambulance. We were all very tired after that and we only had 5 minutes rest until the next match which was against St. Mary’s.  Megan played in Grace’s position because she had hurt her arm.  She played very well scoring 3 to the 4 goals. The final score was 7-3 to us.  After winning all our matches we were top of the leader board, but we were all very tired because we didn’t have a very long rest.

We were through to the quarter finals but it was also the knock out stages and we had to play a team from Widford Lodge.  Unfortunately our team fell apart and Widford Lodge snatched the opportunity and won the game 2-1 knocking us out of the competition altogether.  It was a big disappointment after winning last year, but we were very tired and the injuries took their toll.  But we had fun and tried our best.
