DISTRICT SPORTS 2010

On Tuesday 22nd June, 35 children from Forms 3, 4, 5 & 6 went to St. Martin's School to compete in the District Sports event for 2010.

We were able to compete in all the field and track events this year, because Form 6 had had an athletics coaching day just before half term, to help us select competitors for high jump, long jump and ball throwing.

There were six schools competing.

Herington House achieved:

• 9 x 3rd places
  • Including two excellent 400m runs by Charlotte Clews and Matthew Bell.
• 4 x 2nd places
  • From Ethan Marshell in the Yr 5 boys 70m sprint,
  • Charlotte Clews in the long jump,
  • the Yr 3 girls relay team (Helena Mollard, Serena Spicer, Stella Cleveland, Anna Nicholas),
  • and the Yr 5 boys relay team (Matthew Bell, Abishai Tharmaraj, Ethan Marshell, Jack Salter).
• 1 x 1st place
  • From the Yr 6 girls relay team (Sophie Church, Abigail Everett, Joasia Bortkiewicz, Charlotte Clews).

Very well done girls. Overall Herington House came 4th.

We were all very pleased with this result, and congratulations go to all the competitors. Thank you also to all the parents who came along to help and show support. It was fantastic to see so many parents in attendance.
