On Friday 20th March, 20 children
from Herington House travelled to South Weald Park
to participate in the District Cross-Country
competition.
It was a lovely sunny afternoon and we
were all looking forward to running. Lots of our
parents came to support us.
We had been training at Weald Park for
the previous 3 Sunday afternoons, so we were familiar
with the course, and this made us feel confident.
The girls were the first to race. There
were 21 teams (about 130 runners) in this race.
Everyone ran well, especially Freya Mason, who was our
youngest runner, and who did well to make the team as
she is only in Form 3.
The first 4 girls back were:
-
Abigail Everett in 40th
place
-
Madeleine Smith in 41st
place
-
Charlotte Clews in 51st
place and
-
Megan Salter in 53rd place
This ‘A’ team achieved 12th
place overall and the ‘B’ team achieved 17th
place.
Next was the boys race. Again there were
21 teams (about 130 runners). The boys also ran very
well.
The first 4 boys back were:
-
James Percival in 25th
place
-
Callum Sackett in 30th
place
-
Alexander Hoeffler in 33rd
place and
-
Jack Salter in 37th place
These excellent positions put the ‘A’
team in 9th place overall and the ‘B’ team in
18th place.
This is another set of very pleasing
results, and I was very proud of all those who took part
in this event. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.
