District Swimming gala - 23rd June 2008

 

On Monday 23rd June 9 boys and 9 girls from Herington House went to the Brentwood School swimming pool to participate in the District Swimming Gala.  This was the first time Herington House had competed in this event.

There were 5 schools in each of 3 groups - 15 schools in total.  We were in the small schools group along with All Saints, Warley, Mountnessing and Blackmore. 

All the children swam extremely well, and in the end the girls team came joint 2nd and the boys team came 3rd.  We were all delighted.

Special congratulations should go to

• Emma Fordham for winning the girls 1 length frontcrawl
• the girls medley relay team who also came first:-
  • Charlotte Clews - Backcrawl,
  • Raheel Tharmaraj - Breaststroke
  • Emma Fordham - Butterfly
  • Grace Langley - Frontcrawl

I was very proud of all the children who participated in this event, especially as almost all of them had never been in a swimming gala before.
